The Swim Cover-Ups bench

A cover-up has one job that no other piece on this site has: it goes on wet. That changes everything about the way Halife makers cut it. The armholes are wider, the shoulders drop, the fabric is chosen for how fast it lets go of water, and the hem clears a chair rather than catching under it.

The bench splits into three shapes. Button-ups open all the way and go on without pulling anything over a wet head. V-necks and notch necks pull on and reach mid-thigh. The longer shirt dresses reach the knee and read as a dress once the towel is gone, which is the point: lunch after the beach should not need a change of clothes.

How it fits

Cover-ups run generous by design. Your usual size gives room over a swimsuit. Go down a size only if you want it close as a dress. The button-ups are the most forgiving, because a button placket adjusts where a fixed neckline cannot.

What it does not do. A cover-up is not swimwear and is not rated for sun protection. It is a light layer, and a light layer wet on the skin covers less than the same layer dry.
